Those two little bats are ready to be adopted by a bat enthusiast.
These earrings feature etched copper Mouse-eared bats flying under sterling silver crescent moons on darkened copper background. The chains linking bats with the moons, as well as ear wires, are sterling silver.
They’re entirely handmade from start to finish and truly one of a kind, as I don’t repeat my designs, so you don’t have to worry about bumping into someone wearing identical pair.
The bats were cut from copper sheet, hand-painted, and then etched using salt water etching technique, in which traditional acid is replaced with saline solution and weak electric source. After the earrings were finished, I oxidised and polished them to create contrasting design.
These are 5cm (2in) long, with the bats being 2.5cm (1in) wide and 1.5cm (0.6in) tall. The upper parts are 1cm (0.4in) in diameter. They’re very lightweight and won’t pull on your ears.
They’re sealed with protective coating to prevent the exposed copper and silver from darkening, and to stop copper from staining the wearer’s skin green*.
They’ll be carefully packed and sent in a box like the one in the last photo.

*Whether or not copper will turn your skin green depends on your body chemistry. Some people never experience any staining, some do. Please note that no sealant lasts forever, and even though I applied several layers of it to these earrings, it may eventually rub off. If this happens, and you notice staining on your skin – don’t worry. It’s harmless, and easy to wash off.
